Florida Georgia Line - Album Review
Here's to the Good Times
Here's to the Good Times is definitely a good time. The majority of the album features upbeat tempos and party-starting lyrics. Every song has a great beat to it, and the FGL duo definitely outdid themselves on this one. For a more slow-paced listen, Stay and Dayum, Baby are two great ones with catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics. FGL wanted clearly wanted to create an album that could appeal to any type of country music listener, and they succeeded. If you're into giving it a listen, check out Cruise, 'Round Here, and Stay.
Cruise: This single put Florida Georgia Line on the map. It is, I suppose, the first single from the album; it tells the story of a new romance that blossomed in just a day, and has cute lyrics such as "girl you sure got the beat in my chest pumpin', hell I can't get you out of my head" The song has an upbeat tempo with lyrics that are perfect for the country mood. "You make me wanna roll my windows down and cruise" There is no better way a country boy could describe his lover. This song definitely isn't filled with meaningless fluff, which is hard to come by in the music scene nowadays.
'RoundHere: This song has a catchy beat with flowing lyrics; the song details the duo's version of a weekend in the south "that bottle of whiskey whispers temptation in my ear; it's a feeling alright saturday night, that's how we do it 'round here" gives the song that weekend country vibe that get listeners interested.FGL really sticks to their roots with this one, emphasizing that nights like this don't happen just anywhere; definitely worth listening to.
Stay: The most heartfelt song on the album. It tells the story of a bad breakup, where the two clearly aren't on good terms anymore; all he wants to do is have her back, but he knows it's not possible. This is that one song on the album that could tug at anyone's heartstrings. "and all I want is to tell you I love you and make you wanna stay, 'cause going on without you is killing me every day." The lyrics convey a sense of sympathy that almost makes the listener want to just give him a hug. Let this one have three minutes of your time. It's worth it.
