Song of the Day: Two Black Cadillacs - Carrie Underwood

It's a cloudy day here in New Jersey, and cloudy days put me in the mood for a dark song. Carrie happens to be my favorite country artist of all time, and every song of hers has a way of striking a chord somewhere in me. And on a dark day like this, Carrie's song Two Black Cadillacs takes today's song of the day spot! The lyrics tell the story of a man who had been cheating on two women, and the women seek their revenge by killing him. And the preacher said he was a good man, and his brother said he was a good friend; but the women in the two black veils didn't bother to cry. The lyrics are so powerful; and what more could anyone want from a girl with such a powerful voice? This song really gets the dark vibe going through anyone who listens to it, and hey, if you're looking to get over that stupid guy, take a listen! ..But please don't do what these two women did.

Song of the Day: The Other side of the Door - Taylor Swift

Oh, Taylor Swift. I have such mixed feelings about this girl; is she country? Is she pop? Is she pop/country? Well, apparently she's country enough to be our song of the day. Taylor reads every young girl's mind; when a girl gets mad at a boy, all she wants is for him to keep fighting for her forgiveness (I have recently had this problem myself) and that's why our song of the day is Taylor's The Other side of the Door. Swift has a way of making everything running through a girl's mind make sense, and she does this through lyrics that are  extremely heartfelt and not very complicated. "I said leave, but baby all I want is you to stand outside my window throwing pebbles screaming, 'I'm in love with you'." There are no crazy metaphors, no pointless similes, nothing like that; just pure feeling. Swift has a way of just making everything in her song fall together perfectly, always creating that happy ending that every girl just sometimes needs to hear about. So ladies, next time you think about throwing him off a cliff, pushing him out a window, or the less harmful smacking him in the face, take a listen to this Taylor Swift song...it might just make you calm down and change your mind.

Make sure you check the song out on youtube!

PS sorry I didn't post yesterday; I was out of town!

Song of the Day: Nobody Ever Told You - Carrie Underwood

What's not to love about Carrie Underwood? Beautiful voice, beautiful body, beautiful personality..she's beautiful! And she wants every other girl to know that they are beautiful, too. That's why today's song of the day is Carrie Underwood's Nobody Ever Told You. The song is full of inspiration; it tells girls that they are beautiful no matter what, and that's something every girl needs to hear. "Just like a flower growing wild, you're beautiful..Nobody ever told you you shine like a diamond, glitter like gold; you need to know what nobody ever told you." This song sends such a positive message to girls everywhere with lyrics full of meaning that can brighten anyone's day, regardless of whether or not they are avid country listeners. Carrie has touched the hearts of millions of fans who listen to many different genres of music; she's just that kind of performer. And as a sidenote she performs this song amazingly. I saw her in Atlantic City at the beginning of last month...life changing. I would watch this performance again in a heartbeat. Well done, Carrie!

Song of the Day: Tip it Back - Florida Georgia Line

Ahhh yes, thank God it's friday! And what better song to start off the weekend with than Tip it Back by Florida Georgia Line. Even thinking of the set gets me ready for a good time. With lyrics like "Yeah, if you had a long day or a long week, grab a long neck if you're with me; come on now, holler 'hell yeah!' cause tonight we're here to party" this song could definitely get anyone going. Florida Georgia Line's fanbase blew up this year after releasing the summer hit "Cruise", and I'll admit, I've been addicited to their music ever since. But really, who wouldn't be? Their lyrics are so fun, but real at the same time. The duo, consisting of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, just released their brand new album Here's to the Good Times on Tuesday, December 4th...if you like this song, you better go check it out! And take a look at their concert dates too!

Song of the Day: Just Wanna Rock N' Roll - Rodney Atkins

Things have been so stressful lately! I just finished booking a vacation to Punta Cana (much needed, might I add) for myself and 11 other people. Word of advice: never volunteer to book a trip for 12 people! It's nuts. And finishing up high school hasn't been a walk in the park either; typical high school drama. Sometimes, I get home and...just wanna rock n' roll! That's why today's song of the day is the newest Rodney Atkins Single. Rodney has been in the country music scene for years, and his songs never seem to hit a sour note in my mind. Just Wanna Rock N' Roll features song lyrics such as "The sun will shine and the clouds will rain, might have to learn to smile through the pain; you lose a step but you gain a friend, might even catch a break every now and then." The lyrics convey a sense of winning in a way that lets anyone listening know that regardless of the stress right now, tomorrow will be a better day. Thank you, Rodney, for such an incredible piece of music!

Just Wanna Rock N' Roll Here is the song for all those who care to take a listen!

The First Entry

The first entry of a blog can sometimes make or break the blog itself...scary, I know. But I just wanted this first post to detail what you can expect in the future. I am just starting out as a blogger, so I might not know all the ins and outs, but I can promise you that I am devoted to making this blog successful for the both of us. The Farmer's Niece will have many a section to it. One section will be the song of the day, detailing which country song I believe plays the biggest role in decribing how my day went (and possibly how yours went, too). Another section will be the new artist of the month. There are so many up and coming artists in the country music scene, and sometimes the most unknown can be the best, so I feel like it is so important to at least get their name out there, even if it's on a virtually unknown blog! The third section will be either the song itself or a cover of the song by me! Just to get a general idea of what the song sounds like (rhythm, tempo, melody, etc.) The fourth and final section will incorporate a "genre of the week" in which I choose one song from any other genre of music and state its relation to country music as well as how it is different from country music. Pulling in different genres can expand the blog's functionality as well as give readers a chance to listen to a different style of music every now and then. Well that's all this farmer's niece has to say; get your country on and enjoy!
